Welcome to the heart of Liverpool's culinary scene—John's Supper Bar. Nestled on Townsend Lane in Clubmoor, this takeout gem has become a beloved staple for both locals and visitors craving delicious comfort food. With a reputation for serving mouth-watering dishes at affordable prices, John's Supper Bar stands out in a crowded market.
Imagine biting into golden, crispy chips slathered in rich, savory gravy. Though one reviewer noted that the chips could benefit from a tad more time in the fryer, the generous portion size and delicious gravy often make them a hit at £6.50 for two servings. It's this attention to portion and flavor that keeps loyal customers coming back, like Ben Brenter, who appreciates the value but sees room for minor improvements.
But it's not just about chips; offerings like the English sausage and fish dinners turn mealtime into a feast fit for a family. According to Stephen Nation, you can easily feed a family of four for around £10 here, making it a fantastic option for those looking to enjoy delicious meals without breaking the bank. What sets John's Supper Bar apart is not only its affordability but also the sheer joy of indulging in food that tastes homemade.
Customer Becky Cooper speaks highly of the well-prepared dishes they've enjoyed for years, noting that the staff, particularly owner Dot, add an inviting warmth to the experience. The salt n pepper sui mais, described as "to die for," exemplifies the thoughtful curation of flavors that keep diners coming back for more. It's this combination of friendly service and stellar dishes that transforms a simple takeout experience into something genuinely delightful.
In today's fast-paced world, finding a reliable spot that combines quality, convenience, and warmth can be challenging. John's Supper Bar captures that balance beautifully—with every meal, you’re not just getting food; you’re becoming part of a community that values good eating and great company.

Waited almost 10 minutes for just chips and gravy. The chips could have done with a minute longer in the fryer. Seemed a bit expensive £6.50 for 2 portions of chips and gravy but there was plenty of gravy
